I thought everyone knew how Imus was and that nobody is immune to his insults, including his wife and staff. Most of what he says is MEANT to be funny or at least outrageous. It's not always funny but typically is outrageous. It seems to me though that if he can repeatedly refer to the President and Vice President of the United States as "war criminals", which I've heard him do more than once, why should everyone be up in arms and calling for his ousting for bad mouthing a college basketball team, no matter how inappropriate his comment? He refers to his wife as "the green ho" so is it the "nappy headed" reference that has everyone upset? I refer to the opening line of a Stevie Wonder song which goes, "Looking back on when I, was a little nappy headed boy..." We should tell him about this being insulting to his own people then perhaps Rev. Al Sharpton and the NAACP can ban the sale of his recordings until an official apology is issued and then they can decide if they'll forgive him or not. Like it or not, racism lives in all its various forms, mild, moderate and flaming and it won't go away in our lifetime. Don't listen to Imus if you find him repulsive the same way all the white folk who find Rev. Al and Jesse Jackson annoying or worse don't listen to or pay any attention to them. If Imus is going to get fired for being ignorant then this should open the door for an awful lot of other radio and television personalities to lose their jobs (finally) as well. We can only hope. In the mean time, Imus or someone else will rant and shock to get the ratings that their sponsors want and won't say boo until they insult African Americans, then heads will roll, or at least that will be called for by some. If this doesn't get Imus fired look at all the free publicity you're giving him not to mention all the racist listeners he might gain because a big deal was made about just another outrageously insulting comment by an aging, obnoxious, sour shock jock.
